My journalism work has been recognized with 12 awards from the Society of Professional Journalists, as well as a Special Achievement Award for immigration coverage and an international fellowship.

Fellowship

2006 Greek Cultural Fellowship from Internews. Selected as one of 12 U.S. journalists to travel to Athens in summer 2006 to report how the country is recovering after the Olympics. Wrote two stories and photographed a piece for the travel section.

Special Awards

2006 Special Achievement Award from the Bridgeport, Conn.-based International Institute of Connecticut for coverage of immigration in the state.

Graduate School

I attended the Master’s Program in International Affairs at The New School on a Director’s Scholarship.

Undergraduate School

I attended Hofstra University on an athletic scholarship and won the School of Communications Award. While at Hofstra, I also won the Jessica Savitch Merit Award from New York Women in Communications.
